Pyjama Party

Each year, in honour of Family Literacy Day, all branches of the library host a pyjama party. Children come to the library in their pyjamas to enjoy stories read by guest readers. A bedtime snack is provided.

2010 Pyjama Party: Jan. 26, 7:00pm.

Preschool Story Time

Preschool Storytime is open to children 3 1/2 years and over who are not yet in school. Each storytime program includes stories, songs, fingerplays, felt board stories, etc. It is a great way to introduce children to library and to encourage a lifelong enjoyment of books. The library holds 3 preschool sessions a year, each is 6 weeks long. Sessions are held in the fall, winter, and spring. Registrations usually take place for 2 weeks prior to the beginning of a session. Call your local branch for more information.

Summer Reading Club

Each year the South Central Regional Library participates in the
TD Summer Reading Club.
Children of all ages are welcome to participate.

1116 children from across the region participated in the 2009 Summer reading club.  They read a total of 1,098,324 minutes (18,305.4 hrs.).  Children donated enough of their mystery money to purchase 16 MCC school kits to be sent to children in Cuba.

Thanks to all those who participated and made the Summer reading club a success!
